Happy Friday! I liked reading your ideas this week, too! What should we talk about today? We can talk more about Toddy and Mrs. Amos. Or maybe we can talk a little about that set of rules Bud has. Write in and tell us what YOU want to discuss today.

I totally agree with you about Amoses putting Bud in the shed. He has a really hard life and and just wants a real faimly.
I don't agree with the Amoses leaving a gun in thier house. What if Todd or one of his friends is playing with it and shoots someone by accident? Not a very good idea!

Dear, Whoever
I think that the reason Bud's mom callled him Bud is beacause it can tell you different things about him. Like he will stand up for himself like a rose/rose bud/ or cactus does! It also tells that he is capable of doing/trying new things. The name, Bud, makes him sound like he could be a friend. He is not afraid to try new things and takes all opportunities.

I think it's cool the way Bud used his rules list like when he was in the shed and decided hit the vampire bat. His rule # 328 was "When you make up your mind to do something hurry up and do it." before he talked himself out of it. and it is nice the way he was helped from the people at the mission. Write back please.

I think Bud's mom named Bud, Bud because Buddy is a dog's name and a bud is a flower. In chapter 5 Bud's mom said leave doors open for things . I think it means leave doors open for jobs and other opportunities. When Bud ran away from the Amos family that door closed but another opened. The door that opened was that Bud met Clarence, his friend from the home.

Hey Danielle,
I got your question. I think that Bud's flyers are important to him because he thinks that the picture of the man holding the cello on the blue flyer is his dad. I think this because whenever his mom saw the flyers she would start getting fustrated and putting things back where they were excactly.

Bud uses his list of rules to get through life easily. I think this because it will get more people to believe him and because it will make him have a more fun time in the places he wants to be. It will also make his life easier.

I am answering from Chapters 5 & 6

I think Bud's mom named him Bud because she didn't want anyone calling him Buddy because Buddy is a dog's name Bud was her pal but she also said that a bud was a flower in waiting - a fist of love which would open with care.

Hi,
I think that his suitcase is so important to him because, he has many things that mean a lot to him. For example say you had a gameboy and somebody had taken it away from you and then they smashed it ito a million pieces. And that game boy had cost a lot and meant a lot to you.
I think that it is good that Bud takes so much care of his suitcase. I think that those pictures are the only memories that he has of his mom and the only information that he has about the man who he thinks is his dad. If I was in his position I would keep a picture of my family and pictures of my dogs and of course cloths. Why do you think that the suitcase is so important to him?

My friend Caitlyn told me she was writing to you and vice versa. I thought that maybe you could start writing to me, too. So what chapter are you on? I am on chapter 8. Have you got to the part where he makes Todd wet the bed. I think that the book is really interesting. The book makes you have a lot of suspension and you just want to get home and read the book to see what will happen next? Why do you think that the flyers are so important to Bud?

hey guys,
Why do you guys think Bud tried to hit the vampire which turned in a hornets nest?
If you were Bud what would you do?
I would just leave it alone unless it bugged me and if it bugged me i would hit it with a peice of wood until i could get the shed door open. I would do this because in the dark you have no idea what the vampire could be. It might have been something worse than hornet's nest or a bat. It could have been a raccoon and he could have killed it. Or it could have been a rock and when he hit it, it could have fallen and knock him unconscious or something even worse than that.
How do you think his mom died?
I think she died of a heart attack because in the book it says he walked in and found her on the ground with the flyers.
Please write back if you do i'll write to you thanks alot!

I think that his eyes don't cry because he cried when when his mother died, when he was sent to the home and when he was sent to his first few foster homes and now he just thinks that there's no point in crying because now he will be sent back to the home after a while. I also think that Bud thinks that his mother deth is worse then being sent to a foster home.

It's o.k that your message came up three times. I totally agree with you about the gun. Even if you were trying to protect yourself you probably have a bigger chance of hurting a family member instead. Do you like Bud not Buddy so far? I think it is really good. We are listening to it on tape. It makes the book alot more fun. There is one more thing I want to add. You know about the rules that Buddy makes up in his mind? Well my teacher Mrs. Cullen has put up all the rules that are mentioned in the book on the walls and we get to put examples of the rule on a sheet of paper under it. It's really fun!
