I guess I admire Bud's courage. I like that he knows what he wants and where he is going and doesn't allow himself to get too discouraged. I don't know if I could do things on my own the way he does! From: Carmen	To: Emily, Alyssa, Alicia, Mike, Sabrina Emily—No, I haven't finished the book yet. But it's a hard book to put down! I like the chapter with the pencil-up-the-nose scene, too. Poor Bud! Alyssa—Opportunity, Family, Poverty; those are the themes I would pick! I would also say there's the theme of needing to belong and to connect with others—to feel like you have a home. What do you think? Alicia—I don't know who that man is. Something tells me he might not be all that bad. But who knows? I guess anything is possible. We'll have to read and see . . . I don't know what I would have done if I were Bud. I would've been scared, that's for sure! Mike—I agree with you; Bud is so brave and smart. He's a great character! They had no food or no money and few clothes. The story makes it sound believable because there is a little boy whose mom died and he does not know where his dad is. He can't get any food, new clothes and has nowhere to live and no where to sleep and he has to live in a foster home. write back please.
