I think Bud will like playing in the band. Even though Mr.C is mean to him and does not trust him. I think Bud has finally found true friends and familly that he likes and can live with.

It's good to be starting a new week! Let's make the last week of our Bud, Not Buddy discussion a great one. We should really focus on the book, ask good questions, and share our ideas.

Here are some discussion ideas to get us started:

Why does Bud love the nickname the band gives him? How does it make him feel?

Why do you think the band members welcome Bud so warmly? Why might they be drawn to Bud?

How does Bud feel when he hears the band play? What words and phrases does he use to describe the music?

Hi! Thanks for the great comments last week. Of course, feel free to talk about any aspect of the books that interests you. It's the last week, so this is the time to get out your ideas and ask your questions!

Hi Clair,
I do think that Bud might get in to the band, but it will be about a year befor he gets in. But you never said if you think that Bud will get in the band or how long it will take to get in. So, what do you think -- will he get in and when?(sorry if I sound rude I just couldn't find any other way to put my words.)

I don't know what the book Sunwing is. Can you tell me about it? And why is it your favorite?

I thought it was cool that the author put in the idea about Mr.C being Bud's grandpa. Did you?
Did you think that it was weird that even though Mr.C was a band owner he couldn't have his own building for the band and had to put it under a white man's name that was in the band?
ps:thanks for writing to me and Maria

Hi again,
I didn't understand what you ment when you said "I hope Mr. Calloway is a happy man to Bud" I think that you meant that you hope that Mr.Calloway is nice to Bud. If you did, I hope so too. Well got to go. P.S.do you think Bud will get in the band?

Ryan,
Why is your favorite band member Steady Eddie? I'm not writing with Tia this time because our teacher wanted us to write by ourselves today.
By the way, I'm only on chapter 16 but I already pretty much know what happens. What chapter are you on?

(p.s.If you ever write back to me please, please explain what you mean more clearly.)

What Bud means by carrying a part of his mom is he feels like he is being watched when he is in her room all along.

Do you think chapter 19 had a good ending? Why or why not?

We think it was a good ending because he thought Herman E. Callaway was his father, but instead it was his grandpa.

Hi
I guess that we do get to go on planet book club again. Yes I meant that I hope that Mr. Calloway is a nicer man to Bud. Yes I think that Bud will get in the Band. I think this because in the book it talks about Bud practising on the recorder and that in a couple of months he might be able to.What do you think? Write me back!

Hi ,I agree with you. I also think that Bud will have a great time playing in the band. I wonder why Mr C. is so mean to Bud?
P.S Have you finished the book.

hi
When Bud says he keeps his mom with him I think that he means he keeps the thought of his mom in his heart and will never forget her. I think this because people say that they have someone who died in their heart.
Why do you think the way you do?
please write back thanks alot

I agree with you. I think that he will enjoy living with his family and friends. He probably feels like he is finally home. I thought that this book was great! What do you think? Write me back!

Hi Kali! I do think that Bud will get into the band. I think he will get in about a year from now. He needs some time to practice his new instrument. He would probably be in big trouble if he messed up while he was playing with the band. That wouldn't be good.

Hi,
( Chapters 13-14)
I think that Herman E Callaway really is Buds dad.
The reasons he might be:
His mother looked at it often
His mother left the flyer in a speacial spot
He had a strong feeling
When ever his mother looked at it she sometimes started to cry.

Reasons that he might not be:
He has not kept contact
He doesn't sound like much of a father
The father does not sound so friendly since he has not done anything with bud and his mom.

Someone please write back soon.
Thanks

I agree with you except for one thing. I don't think that Herman .E. Calloway is his uncle. I think that he is his grandfather and that his dad did die a little while ago.
