From: Daniell Grade 5th Youens Elementary Houston, TX	Message: At first I thought the book was boring but the book is so intresting.I wonder why did the grandma give him the Hatchet just in case he didn't make to his fathers place but he was still alive?I think that she had a feeling that something like that was going to hapen.Do you some how feel like that when you're on a plane?I have never been on a plane before, but if I ever do I would bring at least my teddy bear.What would you take on your trip?

From: michelle Grade 4 Herod Elementary Houston, TX	Message: One thing is that he learned is well one of his mistakes is by putting the eggs someplace else.The skunk got the turtle eggs and it might be because the skunk smelt it. No wonder the skunk made Brian a little blind. Yes I am a little bit like Brian.When I hide something, I go to play outside or I read a book and when I go back I found the thing I hid in my dog's mouth -- he's found it! So, like the skunk, my dog growled at me. I kind of felt sad for Brian because he does need to eat food and I'm mad at the skunk.The only reason is because I think he could find some food himself instead of Brian's because Brian is fair because he got his own food. What I think is going to happen next is that Brian will probably stay a little bit or so more like a year or so.Maybe if no one finds him.So that's what I think is going to happen.

I know some people do that but not me. I like Brian in the story because he is acting smart sometimes. The story hatchet is pretty cool to me.

I thought the ending was kind of weird because only the pilot comes over Brian's head and comes to take him home. And I thought that his family would come to get him. Also I kind of thought the part was weird when the pilot says "you're the kid that was lost for the last two months You're that kid." But, I still thought the book was cool!

I think he willl put his berries there. How about the fish trap? Do you think it will work? I thought it was really funny when he got sprayed by the skunk! Phew!
