| To: Everyone Hi! Welcome to our discussion. If you weren't here yesterday or Monday, you might want to review what we were talking about and then add some of your own comments. Today maybe we can keep talking about Marty and the tough situation he's in. What do you think? |

| To: Everyone I have an interesting question! What can we all conclude from the fact that Judd does not name his dogs? |

| From: Hannah Grade 5 John T. Tuck Burlington, Ontario | To: Everyone I think Shiloh is very scared of Judd. In one part Judd says "If he wasn't such a good hunting dog,I would have shot him by now". If Shiloh had heard that he probably would have run away by now. I think Shiloh is sensative and tries to be serious around Judd to keep his life. I know Shiloh is scared of Judd but I wonder if the other dogs are too. |

| From: Holden Grade 5 John T. Tuck Burlington, Ontario | To: Phoebe Here's an answer to your question, Phoebe. Yes, I think it's great that an author uses dialect. I think the author uses dialect in books to make it more realistic. How would you feel if you had a lisp and book charactors never had lisps? Offended, right? So my answer is yes. |

| From: Haris Grade 5 John T. Tuck Burlington, Ontario | To: everyone I think Judd doesn't name his dogs because he doesn't care for his dogs and the only reason he has dogs is because he uses them for hunting. I think the author should tell more about Marty |

| From: Emily Grade 5 John T. Tuck Burlington, Ontario | To: Everyone I think Marty really loves his dog, but he has to keep it away from his family and Judd. I wonder if he will be able to keep Shiloh in the end? I think that Marty's dialect keeps the book interesting. I think that Judd doesn't name his dogs because he doesn't have a very good imagination to think of names. |

| From: Brandon Grade 5 John T. Tuck Burlington, Ontario | To: everyone I think Judd doesn't name his dogs because he doesn't like dogs. He just uses them for hunting. I am going to talk about Shilo today. Shilo has big, browny, black eyes and a white hair that's covered in black and brown spots. Shilo loves Marty so much he can't get enough of him. Shilo always follows Marty all over. |

| From: Eric Grade 5 John T. Tuck Burlington, Ontario | To: everyone Guys what do you think about Judd? I think he's HORRIBLE!! I mean he cheats people like when he tricked that old man,if he doesn't like you he spits tobbaco in front of you and he is so mean to Shiloh, he breaks his legs and practically kills him! If there's one person I wouldn't want to be friends with it would be Judd. I hate him!!!!!

| To: Everyone Great comments everyone! I'm learning a lot reading your ideas. Eric—I understand what you are saying. I feel really angry about Judd, too. I wonder what his problem is? Does anyone out there have ideas about why Judd might be such a mean guy? |
