Hi! Don't you love Friday? What should we talk about today?

I was wondering—what do you think about the Preston's community? What does all the food that Mr. Preston finds in the mailboxes show about the community?

I have a question, too. At one point Marty says that his secret about Shiloh is "like a time bomb waiting to go off." What do you think he means?

We agree with you that it would be bad if Judd found out that Marty is hiding Shiloh. Do you think if his mom or dad found out they would tell Judd?

If we were in the postion that Marty is in we would be forced to keep Shiloh because one half of Marty is saying give it back to Judd, the other half is saying keep him.We also would keep Shiloh because we know that God doesn't want any of his creatures hurt. Do you agree?

We think Marty is keeping Shiloh because he cares about Shiloh. Marty also doesn't want Shiloh to get kicked or starved because Marty thinks cruelty to all animals is wrong and Judd treats animals badly. Do you think David will have an important part in the story? Or is he just a friend of Marty's with no other real purpose in the story?

We feel the same way that you do because David would be able
pay for Shiloh's food and stuff, and Marty can't because he is poor. We also think that David would keep Shiloh because he could actually pay for him,and he could buy him from Judd. Do you think that Marty would do that for any of Judd's other dogs?

We agree with you that Marty is a honest person. Do you think that Marty will tell anyone about him hiding Shiloh? We think that if Marty told his family that he was hiding Shiloh it might be better for him because he's feeling bad about lying to everyone. But we also think he should soften them up first.

We think that when Marty says his secret about Shiloh is like a time bomb waiting to go off, he means that no matter what happens, somebody is going to find out Shiloh. When they do, it's all over for Marty and Shiloh! The longer Marty keeps his secret, the more trouble he's going to be in.

I think that David will actually have an important role in this story. I think that he'll go to Marty's house without being asked over and go up the hill and find Shiloh. Then Marty will probably have to lie to David - again.

Good point. I think it could be easier on his conscience if he told his parents about Shiloh, but I believe the reason he's NOT tellings is also a matter of conscience. I feel that Marty is prevented from telling his parents by the looming fact that his father will take Shiloh back to Judd.
