Before we read "Number the Stars", we studied a lot about WWII. The Nazis thought they were much better than anyone and they killed over 6 million Jews. The Nazi symbol is the swastika and the Jewish symbol is the Star of David. We hope this info will help you learn more about World War II.

For the first question, for chapter 2,everyone thought king Christain was right, except for me(James6).I thought it all depended on the circumstances,so I can't say if he did the right or wrong thing.
For the second question,2 people said yes,1 person said no and again I thought it depended on the circumstances,I might die for my leader,or whatever, but it all depends on the person, the time ,and whats happening.
Everyone thought what Hitler did was both horrible and wrong. What did your group think about what our group said?

I agree with you. People would have to be pretty stupid to take orders from a leader like Hitler to kill millions of people just becaus ethey
were different. I am happy the Jews sabotaged the Nazis by bombing
bridges the Nazis were driving over or bombing factories. The Jews
didn't want to hurt anyone. The Resistance only wanted to take
away the Nazi's weapons, but the Nazis killed millions.

When we knew a little bit about Number the Stars we were discussing
about where we would hide our friends if the Nazi soldiers came to our
house. If they came I would hide my friend in the laundry room. I would
push the big bedding box till it was behind the tank. Then my friend would
jump over and hide there for a week.

It was right for King Christian to surrender because if he didn't the
Nazi soldiers could just shoot and kill him. I would not die for the
leader because it is a hard decision. Besides, I am too young to die.

I think "The Free Danes" is illegal because in my research on the invasion fo Denmark there were people called resistance fighters. They were people that killed Nazis secretly and without getting seen. I think they are in the newspapers as well as routes you can take to be free from the Nazis. I also think there are maps for Danes so they can follow them and be free. That's why I think "The Free Danes" is illegal. See ya David!
