Happy Friday, everyone! Welcome to the Tuck Everlasting discussion. My friend Raoul and I posted some big theme questions on Wednesday (Sept. 18). You might want to click on that day and read them.

Hi! In case you're wondering–the purpose of the big theme questions is to give us some things to think about as we read. You can try to answer the questions now, and then, after reading the book, try to answer them again. Your answers might change.

This book is pretty cool. Hope you like it!

We think living forever can be both a blessing and a curse because if you have a disease, you might not want to live forever. if you were in great pain, living would be the curse and dying would be a relief. It would be a blessing because you would be out of your misery. It would be awful to outlive your family and all of your friends.

On the other hand, if you could live forever, you could see everything you wanted to see. You could do everything you wanted to do. You wouldn't have to worry about yourself so much. You wouldn't have to worry about being hurt.

What do you think?

Would you want to drink the water if you had the chance? Why or why not? If you drank it, what do you think would happen?

What do you think the elf music really is? We think it might really be Mae Tuck's music box.

Who do you think the stranger in the yellow suit might be? What is he after? We think he might be Angus Tuck.

I really liked the things you said about living forever. You're so right. On the one hand it would be great to get to do all the things you've ever wanted to do. On the other hand, like you said, you wouldn't want to outlive everyone you love.

What does everyone else think?
