I think that Byran should not tell Joey what happen to the people whith thin blood that froze up because she got scared and she cried. But on the other hand I think he should because so Joey won't whine anymore. I think that Byran should of waited till Joey was nine to tell her about the soutern folks. I will probaly get scared, but Irene thinks it is not scary. |

MESSAGE:
Dear Katie Our favorite part was when Byron almost got his finger burnt. We like when his lips got stuk to the muier. It was funny when Byron put lairy Dun in his movie and through him up aginst the fence. Me and Mike live in flint and its cold relly cold, but hay more snowball fights. I bet the most fun thing about it being cold is you can build snow men. Some people think flint is stupid but hay it maybe cold but it shur is fun when you plow your freinds with a snow ball. Michigan is unperdictable, it could be hot or it could be cold. Have you read the hole book we havent? |

MESSAGE:
Today we talked about Byron getting upset with his mother over welfare food. My opinion is Byron is immature and ingnorant for getting mad because his mother is getting welfare food. He is embarrassed and thinks it is not cool at all. I think it is o.k. to be on welfare, but Byron is not thinking of his mom's feelings. He is only thinking about himself. The important thing is that they have food to live on. They are lucky they are not homeless. |

MESSAGE:
My book club talked about why Byron was angry with his mother for getting welfare food, and if it was fair of Byron to feel this way. I think Byron is angry with his mom because they have to eat welfare food and it makes Byron feel like he is poor. I think this is not fair of him because they can't help that they can't afford food so they have to get welfare food. Did they mention if their father works or not? |

MESSAGE:
Today in our group we talked about the welfare food. I think Byron is mad because he thinks they get welfare food and he feels like he is the only person that aint got no money. It is not fair for byron to get mad at his momma because some people might not eat if it wasn't for welfare. This book is getting good! |

MESSAGE:
I think momma handled the punishment well because she almost burned Byron for his mistake. It told him that he will be punished if he plays matches again. Momma doesn't want Byron to burn the house down and have them smell for a long time. Momma want them to learn a lesson and not to play with matches |

MESSAGE:
Dear Trever, My name is Hamid, I agree with you because nobody told him to stop, so since no one tells him he thinks it's ok. One thing I don't agree with is when you said that it is his nature. I think he was not born with it, so he had to pick it up from somewhere. |
