We think the author made the book interesting by useing earthy language. We think that Momma was a little hard on Byron for playing with matches. We think Kenny felt bad for the way that Byron killed the bird because it's sad seeing an animal die. Our class had a lot of conections from Byron killing the bird. We think Byron is angry about welfare food because he thinks his family is poor. |

I think that Byron Watson is being selfish over welfare food. Byron always has to act like Mr. Cool. I also feel that Kenneth Watson can handle things a lot better than Byron can. In chapter 6, which my class just read today, I didn't hear Kenny get upset about the payday list at Michele's grocery store, I think that's mature. Also Kenny didn't notice when his dad had got welfare food rather than grocery store food,all he noticed was a couple powdery clumps in the milk but he didn't seem to complain. |
