The way I think the author used imagery is by using lots of details. Ajectives helped him create imagery. Some examples are, " big, fat, white puffs of smoke".The author gave a picture of smoke, that helped me see the big, fat, white puffs of smoke in my mind. When the author uses descriptive adjectives, it makes the story well written and easy to picture. What do you think?

Hi Author,
You wrote a very good book. I thought it was funny how you made Byron get his lips stuck to the window. I also like how you use the exotic words like when Kenny said like a thousand. I think that the book is going to be very good im very exited to read on, and see the exiting things that are going to happen.

The author created imagery by using senses. For example, in the first chapter the author wrote " blowing big, fat, white puffs of smoke." That sense is sight. He used all different types of senses. Some of the senses are touching, sight, smell, tasting, and hearing. For example another sight sentence might be, "knots and bumps on your head." What do you think about imagery sentences in chapter one?

How did you think the author used Imagery? I think the author used Imagery to create the setting of the story by using descriptive words so you would know what he was talking about in your head. He also did it by using descriptions like it was so cold that when "You spit on the ground it would freeze before it hit the ground".Also calling the state the big "Ice box".Also by having Byrons tongue get stuck to the car window,by saying what temperature it was outside (a billion degress below 0). It appealed to my sense of sight by the author saying they were all wrapped in blankets and they were all shivering.I think the author used lots of imagery through the whole book and in your head you know how cold it was outside and because of what happened. What do you think?

I love this book! The author uses imagery by using descriptive words. Like when he said "it's so cold I'm breathing big puffs of white smoke." He also shows imagery by using adjectives to describe things. I just love how the author uses so many descriptive words. What do you think about the book?

The author used imargey by using different senses. Another way he did that was he used sight to describe "fat white smoke." Also he makes you see how mamma was looking at dad. He used description of the cold by saying the house felt like a giant ice box. What can you see in your head?

How do you think the author used imagery to develop the setting? I think Christopher Paul Curtis used imagery by
appealing to our senses like in the first chapter the author
said it was so cold your breath would look like big fat puffs of smoke. This will appeal to our sight.

The author used imagery by saying words like"it was a zillion degrees below zero!"He excerised all five senses
by using many adjectives. Some adjectives he used were "big, fat, puffy, white, banging and clanking". Both banging and clanking are onomatopeias which also help with making an image inside your head. Altogether he really creates a great picture in my mind. What picture does he create in your mind?

The author created imagery by using the five senses. For example he used the sense of hearing like when Momma was giving dad dirty looks and when the author said that if you spit the slobber would freeze before it hit the ground. The author also used the sense of hearing like when the furnace was banging because it was working so hard. What do you think?

The author uses' imagery to create the setting by using really descriptive sentence's like if you spit it would freeze before it hit the ground. He also made it easy to picture the scenes' without causing people to overthink. His word use makes' it easy to imagine a family sitting on a couch wearing a lot of sweaters and scarves'. He also used a sense of hearing by saying"the furnace was banbing like it was going to blow up."He also about breathing big,fat puffs of white air when you were inside or outside. This really helps' to imagine things' and events in the story. How do you feel about the autors use of imagery?

The author created imagery by us visualizing about the
story. He put in alot of details and descriptive words.
He uses hearing, sight, and smelling. He uses the sense of sight by describing the smoke as big and white. He uses
the sense of hearing by saying the furnace was banging.
The last sense he uses is smelling. For example when joey
scented smoke from the bathroom. What do you think? Do you
think that he uses some senses?

The author used imagrey in chapter one by showing imagrey describing the weather like I've never seen writen in a book before. For instance, the author started off by saying "it was one of those super-duper-cold Satudays". The author also mentioned that "Alabama to Michigan was a state they called the giant icebox".

I think that the author uses imagery very well. The author creates the setting of the story by using imagery. By describing the "big fat white puffs of smoke. He used imagery to give you a picture in your mind of what the cloud of smoke looked like. The author used very descriptive adjectives to describe the cloud of smoke and other phrases in the story. This way we could get a picture in our mind about what was going on with whatever was going on in the story. You could almost see the cloud of smoke in front of your face because it felt like you were really there. What do you think about how the author used imagery in the story.

The author created imagery by appealing to our senses. He used the sense of touch when he said Michigan was like a giant icebox. He described the cold weather by saying it was a zilloin degrees below zero. You can see what is happening because the author described the setting so well. He uses lots of adjectives like big, fat puffs of smoke to describe the setting.

The author uses imagery to create the setting of the story,by using taste, touch, smell, sight, and hearing. For example,if you are in a dark room, and you smell an orangy smell, your going to visualize an orange in your head. Another example, would be hearing,if you are in a dark room and you hear footsteps or laughing, you are going to picture someone else in the room with you,and eventually, your going to freak out or scream, because if you were in a dark room, and you heard a noise, you might picture a monster or killer or something, and that would be pretty scary. I think the descriptive details in the story, made it appear well written, and after reading a book

I have read the whole book but I'm not telling you what the good parts are. Yes, I think the book is funny so far I expecially liked chapter 1. The author use imagery by using the various senses, he used hearing so that the family could hear the thermometer which was all the way up all, and the furnace was just banging like it was going to blow up. He also used sight by describing the big fat white puffs of smoke when you walked out side, and how cold it was and that you were crazy to go outside. Another sense is touch when you walked outside it was like an ice box in the house. Do you think the author uses imagery that way in chapter1?

The author used imagery by appealing to our sense of sight. You could almost picture the big fat white puffs of smoke in the air. Another, visual sense in the story was the spit freezing before it hit the ground. One of the senses the author used a lot in the story was the hearing sense. The words the author chose to use were exellent; they made you feel like you were there. The banging of the furnace in the story was desribed so well you almost of heard what it sounded like.

giving out some of the senses. He showed them, like when
he talked about feeling, when he said words like cold or Jack-Frost moved in, seeing was when he talked about the hunks of smoke, sound was when the furnace was banging, and this is how the author created imagery. What do you think?

The author used imagery by using descriptive adjetives, referring to the sences. He exaggerated a bit, to show how really cold it was. For example: "One of those days that you see your breath and it freezes there". I think chapter onew

The author uses imagery by using the 5 scenses. They are, feelings, sight, taste, smell, and hearing. These adjetives will describe the noun, in a more proffesional way (desriptive, and detailed). For example, "big, fat white puffs of smoke", will fall into the sense of sight. When he uses the senses he makes you think, and imagine of what the nsetting lookes like in real life. Also, "felt like in a great, big icebox falls into the sense of feelings. Can you think of any other adjetives used to describe the story?

What was your favorite character so far? Mine is Rufus. What do you think happened to Rufus? Why does he suddenly disappear from the story? I think that Rufus's family had to move and he didn't have time to tell Kenny that he had to go. So Kenny was wondering were he was so he went to Rufus's house and Rufus wasn't there. So Kenny got really mad and he ran home. Instead of going to school he went home and locked himself in his room and cried. He didn't go to school for a couple of days. Plus he didn't talk it out with anybody so that made it worse. That's my opinion, What do you think happened to Rufus? Please write back!
