I think it was awfully sad when Byron killed the bird. In ch.5, I don't think By's mom should have threatened him. Though what he did was wrong, I don't think threatening your child like she did would be the answer.

I can't believe that Byron might have to stay with Grandma Sands the whole summer. He was being really nice to say thank you mamm and no thank you mamm to his grandma. Do you think that Byron has a problem with staying with his grandma for the summer? So far I don't think he cares because he hasn't complained at all yet for the whole trip. I don't think he wants to though. He probably doesn't want to show it because he doesn't want to stay for the school year.

I also like when Momma gets Byron and threatens to burn him. Another one of my favorite chapters is chapter 11 because Kenny is scared to hug Grandmaw Sands becase he thought he would break her. I fell bad for Byron, kinda, because he has to use those outhouses and has to live with someone old and probably has to do chores.

I can't beleive that Kenny, Byron, Joey, Mom, and Dad stayed in the brown bomer the whole way to Birmingham, Alabama. I can bearly stay in a car all the way to Tulsa,Oklahoma from Houston,Texas with 3 childern and 2 alduts (and stuff).

We are on chapter 12, but don't worry, I won't spoil it for you! I have already read where you are right now. I think that Byron's parent's will end up taking him to Grandma Sand's House for the summer. I think that when his parents go back home, they're going to probably get a phone call saying that Byron is misbehaving, AGAIN! (The last question, I don't understand it.
