Dear Mr. Curtis:

Our group has enjoyed reading your book. It's been especially interesting to read about a Michigan family in the 1960s. We're still a bit amazed at how ugly racism is and how badly people can treat each other.

The students were very interested to know that you had visited our town last summer. We'd love to show you our school, if you come back to Petoskey to visit. We have been very fortunate in that our school district has done a lot of building in the last couple of years, and has rennovated other parts of our building. Our new computer lab has made our participation in this book club possible.

We were especially excited when one of our group members discovered that our school library copy of "The Watsons" is autographed! And we want to thank you for a great book, and for your participation in this on-line discussion. It's been wonderful to have your added comments and perspectives as we discuss the book. Thanks for taking the extra time for us!

Dear Mr. Curtis,

We read our library's Watsons Go To Burmingham and we noticed something. We think that when you were here last summer you signed the book for Sheidan School. It is definitely signed by you, though. We think its pretty cool that you signed the book for the students to read.

Do you think that mama and dad have changed at all through the story?

I also like this book. I love the way it is in first person too. Mainly because Kenny is the main character, you get all the action, and my favorite character is Kenny. But besides that, this is a very descriptive book and yes it does give you the feel that you are right there. I can tell the author put a lot of thought into this book because it isn't just funny, it is really searous. I think the moral of the story is don't take things for granted, espcially loved ones because you can't always predict the weather.

I agree with you. Joey is probably Kenney's guardian angel and Kenny is probably Joey's. That is a very good idea. I would have never thought of that. Are you going to be in Number the Stars. I am. Can't wait to hear from you again!
~Bye~
