|
I belive that Ja'juante's oppion was just like my oppion in many ways. First I belive that this book is Heart-pounding.I think that it has a lot of mystery to it. I think that most intense part of the book is when the man in the yellow suit trys to take winnie away back to her family. And then when mae shoots him to try and defend Winnie. That part of the book had my mind racing! The most
sadess part of the story in my oppion was when the Tucks found the monument of
winnie. I think that it was sad because Jesse wanted to have her drink the spring
water when she was 17 so they can be soul-mates. I think if there is a sequal to
this book Jesse will be Out of a one to ten scale. Ten being the best I would rate this book a full ten! Again this book is tence, mind racing, excellent, and a very good family book. I would recommend book to anyone!!! |

I enjoyed this book whole heartedly. At the beginning,I will admit it was boring. But after Mrs. Frisby saw the Rats, and possibly more at the end, it was fun and very interesting. I loved how the author made a half sad, half happy ending. Something I didn't expect at all. One thing's for sure: it deserved it's award!! If you haven't read it and you see it on the library's bookshelf, I suggest you borrow it. |

In my reading group at school, we just finished the book "the BFG". Personally, I wouldn't want to reccommed the book to my worst enemy. The jokes weren't funny, it was just annoying the way the BFG spoke, the ending was unsatisfing, and most of the book was just a telling of how the gaints, or just the BFG lived. I personally would rather read one of Roald Dahl's other wonderful stories. |

| Book: | Walk Two Moons |
|
The book Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech opens with the quote, "Don't judge a man until you've walked two moons in his moccasins." It's about trying to understand people. The quote suggests that in order to truly understand a person, you must first think about what it is like to be that person. To put it simply, everyone has a story. What if I just want to be entertained?" Well, I didn't say Walk Two Moons wasn't entertaining as well as wise. It has suspense. Its characters are wonderful, interesting people. It also happens to be two great stories in one. Let me explain: Sal Tree Hiddle is a thirteen-year-old girl on a special road trip with her grandparents. While cramped in a car for six days, Sal passes the time by telling her grandparents what she calls "an extensively strange story"—the story of her friend Phoebe Winterbottom. You see, this trip follows a difficult year for Sal—one filled with painful life metamorphoses. Phoebe was a close, entertaining, but challenging friend who was an important part of her life during this difficult time. You might assume that the novel is mainly about Phoebe. However, through the story of Phoebe, readers gradually learn more and more about Sal's life. It turns out that Sal's story—a story about love, relationships, and learning to cope with life changes—is just as interesting and powerful as Phoebe's story. As you begin the book, think about the word journey. This novel is about the journeys we can take in a car or by train, and it is also about the more personal journeys we take in life. The journeys in this book will sometimes make you sad and sometimes make you laugh, and they will always encourage you to think. |

| Book: | The Castawys of the Flying Dutchman |
|
This bookis by Brain Jaques, the auther of the Redwall seris. At first this book might imtimidate you; it's very thick and has a lot of words. That's how I felt at first. I made myself just "plow" right on and all of a sudden I REALLY REALLY liked it! There is a Part one and Part two (I'm pretty sure, anyways) and Part One is all about a mute boy named Neb who is running away from his cruel brothers and gets onto a ship. Soon he be-friends a dog named Den (Denmark). The ship they are on is called "the Flying Dutchman". Anyhow basically, the captain thinks he can brave this terrible storm and then he curses God and a angel comes and destroys them all. But Neb and his dog are saved. The angel has blessed them with the abiloty to never die; to live forever. Also, Neb can understand what his dog, Den says to him. This is a very intersting book about a bond between a boy and his dog, friendship, and helping others. In part two Neb has changed his name to Ben and the dogs name is Ned. Anyways I would really suggest you read this!!! There is also a sequel, "The Angles Command" (which has a lot about ships in it, ifr yoiu like ships) This is a good book for both girls and boys probably from maybe ages 11 and up. Well, I hope you enjoy it! |

Dear Dumb Diary is all about a pair of pants that are haunted. It all starts with the girlz dog. The girl thinks that her dog is bitting and chewing holes through her pants. It really isn't her dog her mom was looking through her daughters magazine's to see if there is any tips on how to bleach pants and other clothes. Her mom ends up spilling bleach on her daughters favorite pair of pants'. It ends up putting holes in her pants. So her mom goes with her to the mall and buys her a new pair of pants because she feels guilty. And then she feels like her pants are haunted so she invites her friend over so they can stop the evilness in the pants. They go outside and throw the pants on the ground and start doing karate moves. They feel really stupid so they put the pants in the washer. I forgot what happened but then her mom went out really quick and bought her a new pair of pants while her daughter and her friend walk to her friends' house. Before they came back her mom hung up her new pants. So they come back and look in the washer the pants aren't there so she looks in her closet there they are hung up. thats all i'm going to tell you you'll have to read the book your self. love ya, sarah |

This is a great book for young adults! It is a story of Danica Shardae, ruler-to-be for a kingdom of Avians, people that can turn into birds. Her kingdom is at war with the Serpients, people that can turn into snakes. However, Danica doesn't know why the war started and just wants peace, she finds out that Zane, the ruler-to-be for the Serpients also wants peace. The royal families of both kingdoms have decided to have a meeting the Mistarti lands, a kingdom that is neutral. The Mistarti rulers decide that the only way to have peace is for Danica and Zane to marry. What happens next? I highly reccomend this book to fantasy/romance book lovers. |

This book is from the Redwall series. A series about an abbey made out of sandstone that is inhabited with talking woodland creatures (mice, squirrles, badgers...). The Taggerung is the story of an otter who was raised by a tribe of "vermin" (the bad guys) and finds out that his home is really at Redwall. The whole story is mostly about the friends and enemies he makes during his journey home. If you like adventure or fantasy books, you'll love this book, it has a mix of humor, friendship, some exciting fight scenes, and loads of action. I think this book is one of the best books ever written, and I do not understand how anyone could not like. When I read the reviews of Carmen and some of the guest reviewers, I was shocked at their critical viewpoint. I LOVED this book, and cannot comprehend how ANYONE can call it boring, flimsy, dull, etc. All you readers out there searching for adventure: THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU!!!!! When it comes to reading books, it is pretty hard to find one exciting enough to suit my tastes, and before I read this book I thought Sherlock Holmes was the best book ever, but no book I have read could ever beat A Wrinkle in Time. Madeleine L'Engle is the best! I can't wait to get my hands on the sequels. Please read A Wrinkle in Time. You won't regret it. |

It is a great book and all,but the movie's name is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and the book was made first so it should both have the same name! My favorite part of the book is when Violet turned violet and the dad said "Violet your turning violet!" So if I had to make a rate for both the movie and the book if it could only go to 5.I would give them a 5! That's how much I like it! |

| Book: | On My Honor by M. Bauer |
|
I like the book On My Honor because the book teaches you a type of lesson about friendship and death.I personaly think my friends and other people should read it because it's a nice book and a boy named Joel has a best friend named Tony and they have fun and spend time together.Until one day Joel wanted to go swimming and Tony didnt really want to so he sugestied another place that was just like a pool but looked like a swamp.People heard and told lots of rumors about the place, they said it was a sewer and it had alligators in the water. When they finally got to where they could see the place they got off their bikes and raced down the hill through a pile of leaves that were probably poisin ivy right to the place. When they finally got there they started to swim.A few moments later they started aurguing about how eachother swam, until they started up a challenge of who could swim the best to certain places. They had to race to the sand bar, they started swimming and when they were half way their Tony was ahead by a little bit and they both started huffing and puffing until Joel was ahead and was almost to the sand bar. When Joel got to the sand bar he turned around and didn't see Tony, for a second he thought Tony was playing a trick on him until he saw Tony's clothes lying on the ground. I'll let you read the rest to find out what a great book it is! |

| Book: | The Lord of the Rings |
|
The Lord of the Rings J.R.R. Tolkien The Lord of the Rings sparked my interest after I read The Hobbit in the third grade. While at a bookstore I purchased the books and began reading right away. I was sucked into the story and could not be parted from it for days. The story begins on Bilbo Baggins' 111th and birthday party where he mysteriously disappears. Gandalf, and old wizard follows Bilbo and convinces him to leave his magic ring behind. After finding out that Bilbo is gone, Frodo, his great-nephew, inherits the ring. Gandalf tells him to keep it hidden. Ninety years later he returns and tells Frodo of the ring's true identity, ans evil ring created by an evil lord, Sauron. He tells him that it must be destroyed in the fires of Mount Doom in Mordor and that he must d it. Discovering a figure in the bushes Gandalf pulls it out. It is Samwise Gamgee, a gerdener. The old wizard tells him to accompany Frodo on his journey. The two head out a few days later and run into Perigrin Took and Meridoc Brandybuck, a.k.a Merry and Pippin. They two troublesome hobbits join Frodo and Sam and they head off towards Bree. There they meet Strider a ranger from the north. He accompanies the hobbitts to Rivendell, they city of Elves. There the Fellowship of the Ring is fromed. It consists of Legolas, the elf, Gimli, a dwarf, Borimir, a man from the land of Gondor, Gandalf, Merry, Pippin, Frodo, and Sam. Together they head for Mordor. Although theese books are extremly long and sometimes a little tiresome, they a excellent and I suggest them to everyone who loves fantasy andthose who don't, too. The three books are The Fellowshop of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. If you liked the movies then you will love the books! |

Jeremiah feels good inside his own skin. That is, when he's in his own Brooklyn neighborhood. But now he's going to be attending a fancy prep school in Manhattan, and black teenage boys don't exactly fit in there. So it's a surprise when he meets Ellie the first week of school. In one frozen moment their eyes lock and after that they know they fit together -- even though she's Jewish and he's black. Their worlds are so different, but to them that's not what matters. Too bad the rest of the world has to get in their way. I loved this book i recommende it to all that know how important love really is and how much it can affect your life when it leaves you. |

I loved this book. I got it from our library. It's about a named Faith Long. She's a real good tennis player, but decides to stop playing the game that she is good at. No one knows why? She keeps her secret till she meets Arthur Ashe's ghost. That's when she starts explaining what happened to her, and how she hurt someone she loved by playing tennis. It's a good mystery and I really felt for Faith at the end of the story. I didn't know anything about tennis, but it didn't matter. This book was real good. |

This is my third book that I have read that was written by Rae Lowery. She has become my favorite author. The other ones were "The Case of the Lost Kid" and "The Case of the Pack Rat Park". All her books are funny, and its like she remembers just what a kid goes through. The main kid gets herself into trouble by sticking her nose where it doesn't belong, but everything always turns out okay. I just can't say enough good things about her books! I think you can only buy them on the internet, so check barnes and noble.com, and amazon.com. That's where I got mine. |

| Book: | Island of Blue Dolphins |
|
This book is excellent. Karana is a 12 year old girl. Her father dies when Aluet men come to hunt otter. After that, when the tribes sails away to a different island, Karana sees her 6 year old brother, Ramo, still on the island. Karana jumps off the ship and swims to the island. Later in the book, Ramo is killed by the wild dogs. Karana befriends the leader and names him Rontu, which in her language means Fox Eyes. She stays on the island alone for 18 or so years when her people come to rescue her. This is a great book. It is written by Scott O'Dell. When he died, he asked to be cremated and wanted his ashes sprinkled in the sea. His family did this, and as they returned to shore, dolphins followed them the whole way. This is extremly ironic because in the book, when Karana attempts to leave the island, dolphins guide her home without the leak in the boat growing any larger. She also said, "It was the dolphins that showed me the way." -Lara |

This is the best book I have ever read. Our book club has been reading all the books from the series by Rae Lowery and we ordered them from Barnes and Noble. It is very funny and the girl in it is really smart and I liked that because I think girls are smarter than people give them credit for. This is my favorite one in the series so far, and I didn't used to like to read but now I can hardly wait for the next book to come out so I can read it too! |

A beautiful, but blunt fiction novel. i read it when I was 11, But, now I've read it at least ten times. Betty Smith is so careful to reveal both the surface Francie and the inside Francie(Francie is the heroine). I like how there really isn't an ending. After you've read the book, you feel like you've just had a nice aquaintance, but you must move on. Although I do wish I could have met Betty Smith and asked her about it. I get the feeling that part of Francie is her. That's how it is with all authors, or else, they wouldn't know how to write about that person. |

| Book: | Five quarters of orange |
|
Five Quarters of the Orange, by Joanne Harris Five Quarters of the Orange is a gripping account of a nine year olds betrayal, loves and most of all losses. Set in a small French village, deep in the heart of the Loire Valley, this book enchants the reader as a complex plot digs deeper into the past, with a surprising yet sad ending. Now an elderly lady Framboise Dartigen unfolds her childhood weaving in and out of the past and present day. Wartime memories and the movement the great fish ‘Old Mother’, who will grant you a wish if caught, with the smells of oranges and French delicacies soak through the pages coming to life. The genre of this book is autobiographical, as it is Framboise telling her story. It could also be classed as wartime fiction and is written in quite an old-fashioned way, with ‘a strong narrative voice, fully rounded characters, a complex plot and even a moral’ as reviewed by the Daily Telegraph. Although Framboise’s past could be classed as wartime fiction, when Framboise talks of the present day it could be classed as modern day fiction; meaning that as this story has two plots to it, it is both wartime and modern day fiction. The exposition is vital to the story, describing and introducing characters, setting scenes and really helping the reader to begin asking questions about what the future may hold for these characters. Framboise begins with introducing herself, a sixty-five year old widow who has moved back to her childhood village, Les Laveuses. She introduces her family with implicit description, meaning she implies about their characters by describing things they may have done. We meet her sister Reine-Claude, once a beautiful young girl, now sad and mentally ill in a nursing home. We also meet her brother, Cassis, soft in his old age with an arrogant son and daughter-in-law. Framboise introduces her own daughters and grandchildren. We also meet Framboise’s mother, a sly women who secretly holds a soft heart within her bitterness. When Framboise’s mother died she left her an old album containing jottings, recipes, newspaper cuttings, in no particular order, with no dates marked. This album later becomes a key source to help Framboise look back and piece together her past. Already we ask questions about Framboise’s past; as with a changed name she writes ‘no-one would think to link me with the Dartigen family, who left in the wake of that dreadful business’ At this point we can clearly see the story splitting in half, two plots running parallel throughout, linking Framboise’s past with her new life in the café, whilst being forced into selling her Mothers recipes. The exposition ends and begins to split when we are faced with the problem in Framboise’s present life. An article written on Framboises café nearly reveals her identity followed by proposals to sell her Mothers recipes. This complication is followed throughout the plot of the present day, which makes this single-layered. Plot two, Framboises past begins with the death of her Father and of her Mothers dreadful migraines, cured purely by a large dosage of morphine. The migraines bought on by the strong, distinctive smell of oranges. This complication allows Framboise, Reine-Claude and Cassis to explore the Loire and its deep secrets. Complication two begins with the myth of ‘Old Mother’, said to give you bad luck if you see her, but if caught she has to grant you a wish. Mesmerised by this story Framboise sets out to catch her. Complication three is much worse, making the story more ‘page-turning’ and introducing a main character Tomas Leibniz, a young German soldier who becomes friends with Framboise, Reine-Claude and Cassis. At the time Framboise writes about, Germany were occupying parts of France. Framboise and her siblings find themselves, as innocent children, in the middle of what was called the ‘the black market’ at that time; feeding information to the Germans about their village, betraying neighbours and friends all in exchange for chocolate and other exciting gifts. As the children dig themselves deeper into trouble and build stronger friendships with the Germans, feeding them information, their once innocent exchanges become quite serious. As Framboise finds herself getting a crush on Tomas Leibniz and having strong feelings for him she becomes confused at such a young, vulnerable age. Next the children become witnesses to some dreadful business that takes place at local ‘la Rep’ café, a main place for exchanges on the black market to take place. This causes the French to fall out with the German soldiers. The black market and dealings begin to collapse and for some time Framboise, Reine-Claude and Cassis don’t see Tomas Leibnez. This is where the story twists and becomes complicated, leading us on ‘red-herrings’. Framboise finally catches ‘Old Mother’, but this leads to the death of Tomas Leibnez. Sadly he is dragged under the murky depths of the Loire and drowns pulling free the trap containing ‘Old Mother’. In shock and anguish Framboise and her siblings drag Tomas’ body from the Loire, shoot him, throwing his body back into the Loire making it look like the French resistance had shot him. They bundle his clothes together and discard of them down the well. A Few days later Tomas’ body is discovered and traced back to the French people at the ‘la rep’ at the night when the Germans and French fell out. The German SS are called round and the ten French people at the ‘la rep’ on the night of the incident are blamed for Tomas’ death and shot. At this point I think we get the crisis. A short passage portrays the shock of village people and the guilt of Framboise, Reine-Claude and Cassis ‘Paul came to tell us. His face was pale and blotchy, one prominent vein standing out of his forehead as he told us in a voice which was one long stammer. We listened in appalled silence, benumbed, wondering, perhaps, how it could have come to this, how such a small seed as ours could have blossomed into this bloody flower.’ Here we find another, yet the final twist to the story. Framboise’s mother has been having an affair with Tomas Leibnez, which only becomes clear at the end of the book. Sections of her old album explain how confused, as she is high on morphine, Framboise’s mother discovers Tomas’ clothes at the bottom of well. She concludes that she has killed Tomas whilst high on morphine and confesses this to the village, although she did not kill him. Obviously the village people are distraught by this, as ten people have died because, what they thought, Framboises mother. They set about taunting the Dartigen family and driving them out their own home in amongst calling the family names and burning their house down. The story ends with Framboise confessing this and coming out about her identity to an old childhood friend, Paul. I would say this is a happy, yet slightly sad ending. Sad in a way that Framboise has kept her feelings and childhood memories locked up, but then finally she is given a key and opens up her heart. This book was a challenging read for me as described by the publishers weekly as a ‘complicated but beautiful tale’. Vivid descriptions of the French countryside and emotions pull you into the story, as Joanne Harris tantalizes you right to the end. An unexpected ending and twists of betrayal keeps you turning the pages up until the very end and still staying with you long after you’ve finished reading. I think the story is so good because of all these complications and twists, making it more exciting and mysterious. By Rebecca Also a piece of writing I did at school. The teacher also graded me very high! The reason im posting this is that in future years I want to become an authour and love to write. I have been told I have a talent!!!!!!!!!! |

| Book: | Goggle Eyes |
|
How does the theme fit in with the language style in the story Goggle Eyes? The theme fits in brilliantly with the language style. The author, Anne Fine uses a colloquial, relaxed tone throughout the story. This is shown on page 43 of goggle eyes where Kitty writes ‘op, plop. Pass the mop. I’d pluck at Mum’s skirt to make it perfectly clear that I was talking to her and not him’ .This helps the reader feel as though she is talking directly to them, but in a way that a friend or person of the same age would. By doing this Anne Fine almost is earning trust and friendship of the reader. Whilst reading the story you feel as though Kitty is a friend discussing her feelings with you. Anne Fine also creates this sense of friendship by using a very personal style; she uses phrases which are common within teenage conversations. This is shown on page 20 when Kitty imagines Gerald Faulkner ‘maybe he had false teeth and sagging skin and tufts of grey hair sticking out his ears’ Anne Fine creates this sense of friendship for a very clever but excellent reason that is quite hidden from the reader. By creating this connection with the reader anyone going through a similar situation as Kitty will listen a lot more than if it was an adult speaking directly to them about the problem. Instead of an adult saying ‘I know what you’re going through’, when really they have no idea; this story actually gives them a friend who is going through the same things as them. It makes the reader feel not alone. The story also adds humour which lightens up the reader and helps them to understand that there is a silver lining to everything! It may even cheer them up after a hard day. Humour is shown on page 47 when Gerald Faulkner describes Kitty’s room as being a ‘designer compost heap’ As I think more in depth about the connection of the theme of trying to help teenagers and the language techniques I realise that they are dependent on one another. Anne Fine has made the theme work throughout but without making her aim obvious, she uses a subtle tone. I believe that this is the reason the story works so well! By Rebecca I wrote this piece of writing for an english essay, my teacher was very impressed! |

Rebecca is an ok book, it could have been a little more exciting in the beginnig, but trust me it does later on. Rebecca is a book for a higher reading level but if anybody below high school wants to try reading i encourage you! A basic summary of the book would basically be...One day this female (about in her 20's whose name will never be mentioned) meets this rich man,Mr. Maximillan de Winter, while in Monte Carlo, France with her rude obnoxious employer Mrs. Van Hopper. Well this girl (who also happens to be the teller of the story) and Mr. de Winter get to know each other over a few days and he proposes to her and of course she says yes, so they go back to his house, Manderly, to live where the story teller has to go agianst Ms. Danvers (the evil house maid who doesnt like her) the ghost of the first Mrs. Maximillan de Winter, but there is a BIG I MEAN REALLY BIG twist almost at the end of the story when everything gets interesting! I would recomend it t anybody who wants to read it. I hope somebody is reading THIS! |

The book I am reviewing is called Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban By J.K. Rowling. This book is about a famous wizard boy named Harry Potter. Harry finds out that a deadly killer wizard that is in a wizard jail is his godfather. He finds out that Voldemort is back and has a lot of power and a sidekick to help him. He also encounters a real werewolf. This book is so very interesting. I love this book and the two before it. I love it because the characters are witches and wizards that call normal people “Muggles”. It is imaginative and funny. The setting in a giant castle that has talking pictures and a dinner hall whose sealing copies the sky outside I think is funny and mysterious. When Harry gets a map that shows where people are in the castle is just plain weird to me. I think you have to be 8 and up to enjoy this series of books. This Harry Potter book and the others in its series by J.K. Rowling are wonderful. |

Redwall is the best book by Brian Jacques! I loved it! Redwall had action and fighting. It was about a mouse named Matthias, who was just a regular Redwaller, but he wanted to be the Redwall Abbey Warrior. Cluny the Scourge wanted to take over Redwall. Martin the Warrior's soul stayed in Redwall to help all Redwallers. He helped Matthias to find his sword, shield, and belt. Matthias defeated Asmodeus, the snake who took Martin's sword, and went back to Redwall and also defeated Cluny. |

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is one of the greatest books of all time, in my opinion. It just takes you away from reality! I've read it about 4 times. It is mainly about Lord Voldemort coming back. He now has a full body and is more powerful than ever! He leads Harry to the Ministry of Magic and kills Harry's only godfather! Harry encounters invisible horses, a dreamy new friend, a terrifying Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, the biggest exams of his life, a new quidditch player, and a kiss from his crush! Everyone must read this book! Five Stars! |

Hatchet Book Review By Chris Hoffman Hi I am Chris Hoffman, I am a student at Sacred Heart School in sixth grade. I have read the book Hatchet a novel by Gary Paulsen, I really liked it because it has all a book could need, and it has adventure, mystery, and little action. The book is about a young man Brian Robeson and his parents that have a divorce. He is going to his dad’s house in the Canadian wilderness is his dad lives. His mom drops him off at an airport, it’s a town one with small planes, when he gets there the plane is already waiting for him with the runner running, he gets in and they take off. He looks below him and sees a sea of green, then the pilot ask if he wants to drive the plane because he is sitting in the Cole pilot set so he takes the controls he steps on the rudder peddles then the plane goes high then he takes it back down then the pilot gabs the controls. Suddenly the pilot has a heart attack and dies. Brain drives the plane over head and sees some lakes he decides to drive the plane into a lake because he was about out of gas but when he was ready to the lakes were gone so he got nerves so he takes the plane high again then after a while he sees some more with out hesitation he took the plane down and drove it in the lake it cashes with a big boom some how Brian survived will he get out of the Canadian wilderness. |

I liked the book Hatchet. It was very interesting. I would recommend it for fourth grade and up. It was about a boy, Brian. He was on a flight to Canada to visit his father when everything went wrong. His pilot had a heart attack and Brian was forced to land the plane. He landed it in a lake in the middle of nowhere! He lived off the land for many days and his only tool was a hatchet. It became his best friend. The book was hard to put down since you were never sure he was going to survive. I liked the way Gary Paulsen described Brian's situations. This is a very good book and I would recommend it to anyone. |

This book stars Brian Robeson. He is a thirteen year old boy going to Canada to visit his father because of divorce. Unfortunatly the pilot has a heart attack and dies. Brian tries to fly the plane and crashes it. He must survive until he is rescued. This is a great book. It uses a lot of discripive words. I would recommend this book to fourth grade and above. I would give this an eight out of ten. |

The book the vile village was a good book. I thought this way because it had suspence where the Quagmire triplets were hidden and where the Bauldinaires were trying to find them. Another reason I read this book is because in this whole series, I find it fun to try to find out who Count Olaf and Esme Squalar is trying to inpersonate and how the kids get around their problem of convincing the town that Olaf is guilty. this is a great book for children of most age between 4th-8th grade. but then again, thats only my opinion. If you think that you are ready to read this series or book then be my guest! I think that Lemony snicket(the auther) is a fantastic writer because he is not only very descriptive, he also teaches kids new words and phrases in his book and uses those words and phrases throughout the whole book. alot of the reviews on this site say that they now think that reading is more exiting and intreaging then before. Author: Stephen King Title: Everything's Eventual This is one of many masterpieces Stephen King has written. His stories are filled with mystery, suspense, horror, thrills, chills, and sometimes even unexpected frights. Some of his other books are: Rose Red, The Green Mile, It, Pet Semetary, and Riding The Bullet. Out of those which I have read so far this one is the most compelling. The only way you will like any of Stephen King's book is if you read books by Sue Garfton or Anne Rice or if you like books that leave you wondering what will happen next, why something happened, or how it happened then you will like many of his books. |

Carmen, I'm sorry you missed the entire point of this book. I have an MS in Chemistry and have been awarded for my research by the American Chemical Association. Further, I've worked as a professional scientist in other fields such as Biology and Physics. Yet, as an adult, and a serious and accomplished scientist who reads serious scientific journals, writes scientific articles, and works in labs all day long, I can still relax and enjoy something that was never meant to instruct in hard cold facts. The instruction it gives is about human nature and about more abstract things in life. I'm just going to tell you straight out, you seriously need to lighten up. With such a narrow and judgmental outlook as yours to life, you're going to miss some of the best things it has to offer and wake up one day when it's too late to go back and do it over. Or, you'll wind up in therapy. Have you read C.S. Lewis' Narnia series? Do you remember the gnomes in The Last Battle? The ones who were sitting in the middle of a beautiful field with wonderful food and drink, but had closed their minds, and so thought they were trapped in a dark barn full of musty hay and water that wasn't fit for a horse to drink? Do you get my drift? Try to become a more well-rounded person. Colleges look for that, you know. |

This book was Historical Fiction, and I thought it was great! It was about Annie Brown, John Brown's 15 year old daughter. During the time when John Brown was planning his raid, Annie's job was to keep watch and in doind that, she learned alot that she didn't want to know, and alot about herself. She meets an elderly woman neighbor who knows something is going on in that house. Even though everysone seems to dislike her, Annie befriends her and takes her advice. She also has to do alot of things she does not want to, but then learns that war is all about making sacrificies. I though this was an excellent selection and would reccomend it for readers ages 10-15. |

| Book: | Dear Mrs. Ryan, You're Ruining My L |
|
The book I read was called Dear Mrs.Ryan, You're Ruining my life. It is about a son of a famous author. Here is an excerp from it, Why did my teachers have to invite her in to talk to my classevery year? Just because she writes booksfor kids my age. And just because kids my age love to read them. You'd think she was a celebrity or something. Nobody elses mom shares so much of there kid's personal life with the whol world. It is a really good book and the reason it got its name was because on the first day of school Mrs. Ryan is coming to talk to her son, Harvey. 's class to talk with them. At the end of her talk Harvey's teacher, Mrs Perkins told the class that they could ask question and stuff and thats when Harvey gets imbarressed. After that Mrs Perkins told the class to write Mrs Ryan a letter and Harvey wrote Dear Mrs. Ryan Thanks for ruining my lfe. your son, Harvey P.S. I think it is really pitiful that an author couldn't come up with a more interesting name than Harvey! Harvey and his best friend Seal found out that Harvey's mom likes an adult they know ( not going to give it away) first they git them together then they try to him him away! It is awesome and is written my Jennifer B. Jones and I give it 4 stars!!!!! |

In this book, the main characters are Alice McKinley and her best friends Pamela Jones and Elizabeth Price. In one of their classes, they are assigned real-life scenarios that they have to work out. Alice is "married" to her boyfriend Patrick, Pamela is a "pregnant teenager" and Elizabeth has to face the problem of buying a car. I found this book very real, not fake like others that I've read. I recommend this book to girls (guys, to you really wanna read about three girls?) who like to read about girl stuff. This book is really for preteens (10-13) or older. P.S: This book is only one of the series. The series starts at the book "The Agony of Alice." |

I First thought the book was going to be some happy peacful like book. I was completely wrong. It was a Great story of friendship. Jesse Aarons was the strange, stupid kid who drew funny pictures. He wanted to change that. He practiced all summer to be the fastest runner in the fifth grade, only to beaten by a new girl named Leslie Burke. This was a weird and wonderful beginning for astonishing friendship. Leslie made him see what was inside of himself and saw before any one else that Jesse was a boy who was smart, funny, nice, and caring even to someone who was rude or disrespectful to him. She made him the king of Terabithia, their haven from the rest of the world, hidden in the woods. Jess as well saw what was beneath Leslie's outlandish clothes and short hair. He saw someone he wanted to be: humorous, intelligent, elegant and most of all courageous. One tragic mourning he is torn away from the one person he has ever had a friendship with. Jesse has to go around all the obstacles of grief to understand what she had given him.

Maniac Magee The book Maniac Magee was a great book, it told a lot about responsibility. His mom and dad die in a car accident and then he has to live with his aunt and uncle but his aunt doesen’t get along with his uncle at all. Then at one of his school plays his aunt sat on one side of the theater and his uncle on the other side. During the song he yells talk! talk! but people think its part of the play so Maniac runs out of the school and goes by himself.

This is what I think of Maniac Magee. I think it is confusing because he goes to all of these different places. It confuses me because he runs away from his uncle and his aunt at the beginning to stay at all these bad places like the zoo, the supplies room (it was called band shell 101). He also stayed at the Beal’s house. I recommend this book to any one who under stand it or thinks they can. |

I think that Jerry Spinelli (the author) fills his stories with strong enthusiasum . Also, I like the book because he uses a lot of author’s craft. That means the author might use a sentence or a part of the story that a person likes and/or feels like they’re there. I really do feel like I’m there! Maniac Magge is a classic! It’s about a boy (named Jeffery Magee) who lives through an adventurous yet tough life. First, his parents die, so he has to live with his constant fighting aunt and uncle! He’s had enough! So he runs away during a performance! He starts living in different places and meets a lot of new people, because of his permanent running away experience. He gets rejected and asked to live with people. This is a great book. I also like the book because it even teaches you a very important lesson! I think the author is trying to tell you that you should never judge a book by its cover. In other words, that means that if a person is a different race, gender, religion, color or just what they look like, never judge them for there looks on the outside, especially before you get to know them! In conclusion, I highly recommend you read this book. You will be very satisfied once you read this totally awesome book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I think that Maniac Magee is a great story because it makes a big point about how bad the blacks and the whites treated each other. It tells about a boy who lived the life of adventure. All the ware and tear he took, he still kept going on, and made many friends along the way. What’s really funny is that his worst enemy, Mars Bar, ended up being Maniac’s best friend in the end. Mars Bar was black and Maniac was white, but they kept getting in fights in the beginning. So if you ever read this book you will know the moral of the story from me. |

Jeffery Magee (Maniac) has a hard life in the beginning when his parents are killed in a trolley train accident. He lives with his aunt and uncle. Then his aunt and uncle get two of everything because they hate each other. That’s only the beginning. I think the author’s message is that you can have friends that are different races or ages. There are lot a characters. I like Maniac because he travels around the same city and knows almost everybody but they don’t know who he is. He loves to run. He has a lot of friends. Those are the reasons I like the book Maniac Magee. |

I think that Maniac Magee isn’t very good. And there is a lot of super fake parts, such as he couldn’t sleep or live in a buffalo pen. Also there was a string 2 blocks long. Maniac ran away at the beginning of the story he ran a state (they said) and found a town. It was divided into two. Half for whites and half for black men. Then he starts to go with the Beales family. At first it works out until he starts making trouble. One day they all started yelling for him to go to his normal home. The rest you’ll have to find out. But I still recommend for you not to read Maniac Magee. Bye |

Maniac Magee I like this book. It’s like a bunch of confusing stories put together. Because the beginning you don’t know what’s happening. It doesn’t make since, but it is funny, sad, and gross at the same time. Because in one sentence you’re laughing, then you’re practically to tears in the next one. |

Maniac Magee was an awesome book I think if anyone started to read it and finished they would understand how I feel. The author made a really weird, smart and creative character named Jeffery Magee. Jeffery is the main character. There are many great and funny parts. My favorite part of all is at the end when Amanda and Jeffery become a family again! When I say again, I mean they were a family before. The Beales is their last name and they offered Maniac to stay with them because Maniac didn’t have a home. Maniac came there from his aunt and uncle’s, he ran away because they always fought! I think the author was trying to get through is that everyone is the same inside even if they are a different color skin the author (Jerry Spinelli) made the best novel I have ever read and more! I recommend this book for anyone black or white!!! Maniac Magee was great I hope you read it!!! |

I just read a great book called Manic Magee. It was about a boy who’s parents died in a trolley accident and then he had to go live with his aunt and uncle, although they fought 24-7 so he ran away! While on his journey, he ran into a girl named Amanda Beal! She let him borrow a book. A while later in the book, he goes to her house to give the book back and ends up living with her family for a while. Then once someone wrote on the house “go home fish-belly” because everyone else was black and he was white. Then he ran away again! He met an old man named Grayson. Then Grayson died the day after Christmas. I think the author’s purpose was to tell people that everyone is the same no matter if they are black or white. This book was a great book and I recommend it to anyone of all ages. I liked this book because it is different, and Manic Magee just kept pushing his luck! |

I am writing to you about the book Maniac Magee. Well, it was a very great book. At first I thought it was going to be a bad book cause it did not make sense, I was so wrong. The book was about a boy named Maniac Magee. His parents that died in a trolley crash and he had to go live with his aunt and uncle that did not talk to each other. His aunt and uncle had two of everything. Two TV’s, and two toasters, and two refrigerators. So Maniac ran away because he was sick of it. He ran all the way to the East End and he was from Two Mills in the west end. The East End was the black and the West End was the white. He makes a few friends. One offered of heard their house for him to stay so he did. He would always ask his friend Amanda Beal if he could borrow a book to read. He would always ask for the Encyclopedia letter A, the 1st one. She would always have to hide it and he would always find it too. |

The book I read was Maniac Magee. I started the book and I thought it was going to boring but I was wrong.Jeffery Magee is the main character. His mom and dad were on a trolley and it plunged into the water from the top of the bridge and they died. Jeffrey went to live with his aunt and uncle. They had almost two of everything because they hated each other.Jeffrey ran away and went to the blacks. He mostly slept in the deer pen and he went to the Beales. Jeffery played alot of sports and he was so good. That’s how he was called Maniac Magee. He ran away from the Beales. Then he went to the whites. At the Amanda found him in the deer pen and he went back to the beales. I think that book was good because of all the sports. The author wanted to teach us that blacks and whites should live together. |

|
MANIAC MAGEE I highly recommend the book Maniac- Magee. I liked it because Jerry Spinelli (the author) fills the story with lots of good things. He puts good adjectives in and uses good words. There is only one bad word in it, the D word. The book’s message is clear: Whites and Blacks should be treated alike. This means that we might be of a different race, gender, or religion, but we are still people! Blacks shouldn’t be treated like animals and whites shouldn’t be treated like the best. This is because we are both people. Everyone should remember that they may be teased, laughed at, or called names, but they’re not animals, they’re human beings. Maniac Magee is about racism. It shows how bad blacks were treated when they lived on one side of town and whites on the other side. The words they use in the book are not words they use to use. They are words we use today, because of those words; in the book it seems to take place in the past and today. The main character is Maniac Magee. Magee loses his parents in the crash of the P and W high-speed trolley. When he goes to live with his aunt Dot, and uncle Dan, soon he gets really mad because they won’t talk to each other. He runs away! If you want to know more, read the book! |

MANIAC MAGEE The book Maniac Magee was about a kid named Jeffery Magee. His parents died so he went to live with his aunt and uncle, but they would no talk or share anything. SO, he ran away to a town called Two Mills and lived in the zoo! One day, while he was running, he ran into a girl called Amanda and she lent him a book. When Jeffery returned it she asked him to live with her but she was black. After some heart breaking events happened, he left them, lived with some other people, did some loony things, and he became a legend! The author, Jerry Spinelli, made the book a funny, gross, and sad set of pages that have been typed on (my description of a book). If there was a main topic in the book, it’s the loony things Maniac, who used to be Jeffery does. I think the author is trying to tell the reader not to be prejudice. I think that because Spinelli (the author) makes all the characters that were prejudice not be that way. I like the personality Maniac has. When he untied the knot the size of his fist the kids asked him to untie their shoes. Then when he knocked on Mr. Finsterwald’s door, he got the name Maniac. I really liked this book! |

I enjoyed reading “Maniac Magee” because it was about a boy’s life and how people were treating him. For example, a kid named Hand’s Down was black and Maniac was white. This story describes racism, racism means that one or more people are against a persons color or religion. In this story blacks are against whites and whites are against blacks. I don’t think it matters what color you are because everyone is different. That’s what diversity means. I liked this book alot!!! |

Bridge to terabithia wasn't one of my favorite books. When you start to read the book it's really misleading. I thought the book gonna be about some kid who really strives to be the fastest kid in the 5th grade.I didn't really read it because I wanted to. I had to read it for a class assignment. But then again I don't enjoy long slow unclear book .But you might so if you do you'll really like this book. |

OK, First of all I would like to say to anyone who thinks it's about moon's or anything just by looking at the title are COMPLETELY wrong. In the book Samalanca's mother moves to Idaho to get away from her father and sometings else you'll learn in the story. As SHe travles to Idaho with her grandparents she tells the story of whats happened between moving away from the farm and this drive. As she goes on telling about Ms. Cadaver's and Pheobe Winterbottom's story, she find another one, too, her own. |

When I first started reading the book I thought it was going to be one of those books where the story is I have a friend, there's a mystery, we solve it hurrah, but I was totally wrong!!!!!! Bridge to Terabithia goes very far into a deep friendship that can take both Leslie and Jess into a world all their own. And when the AWFUL tragdey occured, I thought I was going to die! This is a very touching book I think everyone should read at one point in time. |

| Book: | The Last Battle |
|
The Last Battle was written by the author C.S.Lewis. It starts out in the land of Narnia with a smart ape and the not so smart donkey, that live by a waterfall. The ape suddenly find a lion skin in the water, so he gets an idea on how he could use the skin. So he tells the donkey to swim out and get the lion skin. Then he tells the donkey to go to town and get some bannas, while the ape makes the lion skin into a coat for the donkey. When the donkey gets back the ape gives him the coat and tells him he looks like Aslan. A couple weeks later King Tritan of Narnia hears rummors that Aslan has returned to Narnia. How does this have to do with this story? You'll have to read it to find out. |

-Tuck Everlasting- When Winnie, a rather bored and overly protected child, becomes friends with the Tuck family, her life is changed forever. The Tucks, mother and father and two sons, have inadvertently drunk from a well which freezes them in time and gives them everlasting life. They will never change, never grow old, never die. They know that the world must never be let in on their secret, for it would change life on earth for the worse. Then Mae Tuck kills the man in the yellow suit . Is it just me or are other people under the impression, that the book reviews placed by those Lily, Phoebe, and whatever their names are, are really corny and for the most part pathetic? I can tune in greatly with Carmen's reviews--at least the few that I have read--but are these reviewers purposely trying to make a laughing stock out of this--I don't even want to know the answer to that one. The fact is most of these reviews sound intensely idiotic. I mean really, Walk Two Moons is about space travel, uh huh. Can you get any more demented? All I want to know, is what these books have to offer. What opinions do you have ON THE BOOK. Personally, I don't care how you would change the book or whether you want to cremate or freeze your body. Just tell us what you thought of the book so that we can make educated decisions on whether this novel/book/short story is a literary work that will expand our minds, or whether we shouldn't even bother. Thanks. |

| Book: | To Kill a Mockingbird |
|
David P 10-3-02 History report 8th Gd 3rd Hr To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee This story is a retelling of the life of two kids who start a normal life until something happens that changes their perspective on life forever. These kids learn that the world is not flawless and nothing in life is fair. I believe the author wrote this book to let us observe that there were some white people who treated the black people with respect and to let us realize how badly the blacks were treated. This story has a horrifying ending and helps us view life through different people's perspective. The two kids in this story are a boy and a girl. They are the main characters. The boy's name is Jem and the girl's name is Scout. Jem and Scout are normal kids in this period of time. Their mom died so they have a black maid in their house named Calpurnia. These kids like to play outside with their friend Dill. They have a suspicious neighbor named Boo Radley. He never talks to anyone and he never comes out of his house. Jem, Dill and Scout are scared of him. Often times, they dare each other to try to approach Boo Radley's house. They have a tree by their house. The tree has a hole in it. Many times, they found small toys or candy in the hole. They do not know who has been giving them these mysterious gifts. Then there is a widely known court case in their neighborhood. A black man, Tom Robinson, is reported to the court that he raped a white woman, Mayella Ewell. Mayella lives in a poor family. Jem and Scout's dad, Atticus, is a lawyer and he is just and kind. He believes that Tom Robinson is innocent. He is anti-racist and decides to side with the Tom Robinson. Most of the other white people take Mayella Ewell's side. They are definitely racist. Many parents tell their children not to play with Jem and Scout because they disagree with Atticu! s. At school, Jem and Scout are teased a lot. Scout, in fact, gets into a duel with a few people. Soon this court case starts to get out of hand. People start to gang up against Atticus. Scout gets really mad. Meanwhile, regular life goes on. Several things happen in this story. They are; Dill proposes to Scout, Scout and Jem visit a black church with Calpurnia, Miss Maudie's, Jem and Scout's neighbor, house burns down and Scout does really good in school. Soon the court case day comes. Atticus does a fantastic job of logically and clearly laying out the evidence so that it's obvious to everyone that Tom Robinson did not rape Mayella Ewell. The other lawyer does a bad job of presenting his facts. Meanwhile, Jem and Scout weren't supposed to come to the case, but they sneaked in and sat in the black section upstairs. After the break, they nervously await the jury's decision. You'll never guess what happened! Tom Robinson was found guilty! The man was really innocent. Jem and Scout's lives change. They wonder how this could happen. After this event, Jem and Scout aren't the Jem and Scout they used to be. They don't have the childish minds they had before. Their thinking has suddenly become more mature. After a while, when things settle down, the neighborhood has a show where each kid dresses up as a food to represent agricultural progress and they make a play. Scout is pork. Things are going fine until after the play. Jem and Scout are walking in the dark back from the play to their house. They start hearing scary noises. All of a sudden Mayella Ewell's dad, Bob Ewell, who was really mad at their dad, decided to get revenge by harming Atticus's kids. He starts trying to stab the kids with a knife. Then a man comes to their rescue. He prevents the bad man from hurting Jem and Scout. He saved their lives. Then Atticus comes quickly to take them home. Scout's small wounds would be worse if she hadn't been wearing her pork costume and Jem injured his arm. They probably would have been dead if it weren't for the man who rescued them. Scout thinks their dad rescued them, but their dad points to a man in the corner of the room who was quiet. It was Boo Radley! He was a skinny man who had really really white skin and hair. Then it dawned on Scout and Jem that Boo Radley was always in his house because he couldn't be exposed to light. We can infer from this that he was an albino. Boo Radley had been the one giving them gifts in the tree hole and he saved their lives. Then Scout became really good friends with Boo Radley that evening. Jem couldn't since he was unconscious. They never saw Boo Radley again. I really liked this book because I could learn about different points of view people have. I can bring the morals in this story into my life. I can always stand up for what I think is right even if I'm the only one standing up for the truth. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes real life stories. If you like fantasy, I would recommend that you don't read this book. Much of the story has been cut off from this report so you should read the book yourself! |

I think Maniac Magee was a really good book. It's a great fictional book. It told a lot about racism. Jeffrey "Maniac" Magee showed that he wasn't afraid of being in a place where he was the only one there that was different. He stayed with the Beales for quite a while. He showed his differences, but still showed respect for all the people there that had a different skin tone. I still can't believe he bunted a frog! Maniac Magee was a really sad story, because bad things happen to Maniac. I'm looking forward to reading more books by Jerry Spinelli. |

my class just finished reading Tuck Everlasting and I think it's a great book for someone to read. You don't want to put it down! Well, it's about a little girl, Winnie, who finds a family called the Tucks. The Tucks live forever because they drank from a magic spring. Then a man in the yellow suit finds out about them and tries to steal Winnie and sell the spring! So Mae Tuck takes action and hits the man with the back of the gun! She goes to jail waiting to be hanged. So the Tucks and Winnie go to rescue her and put Winnie in the jail so that they will all be safe. The man in the yellow suit dies!!!!!!!! That amazed me ALOT! Winnie decides to give this toad some of the magic water so that he'll be safe. But she doesn't use any for herself! Well, I not going to tell you the end! You just have to read the book! If you can't get the book, I'll try to email you it. Just email me at ----- (Note From Small Planet: For your safety we don't publish any email addresses) ---- and I will answer any questions you have. |

When I first started reading the book Bridge to Terabithia I thought that it was a really stupid book. Because they really just talked aboout Jess wanting to be the fastest runner in the fifth grade but, when I got to the middle of the book I thought that it was a great book and at the end I wanted to cry because of Leslie's sudden death. |

I have to say that this book was the best book I've ever read. It was about a boy who is an orphan that finds out the person that he thinks is his father is his grand father. The reason he doesn't live with his mother is because she died. Bud always said she didn't die a painful death. I would strongly reccomend this book to anyone because I could connect his life to mine but not the dying part. I really think that you will like this book for many different reasons. |

Hi, Cecibell. Thinks for writing to me. Well, I love the book Tuck Everlasting! I don't know if you've had a chance to read the review of the book I wrote and posted on this website. If not, click on Book Reviews, find the Tuck Everlasting link, and give it a read. It explains exactly how I feel about the book. As for the movie; it just so happens my friend Raoul and I went to see it this week. We liked it. We thought the actress who played Winnie was very good. We also thought the camera shots of the woods and the lake were very beautiful. Of course, it seems like when people make movies out of books, they always make little changes. This movie had some changes. Also, some of the characters looked different from how I imagined them and how the author described them. But I still thought it was a pretty good movie. Let me know what you think! |

|
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is about 4 sisters: Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy who are best friends. Their daddy is out at war and they are tight on money. There is alot of things that happen, Meg's first dance, Amy's punishment in school, their father returns, Beth's illness and lots more believe me this is a good book for girls. This will teach girls about growing up, and relying on one another. Plus for boys there is Little Men. |

| Book: | Ender's Game |
|
This is a POWERFUL book. A definite must read. In the year 2070, the human race has nearly destroyed by the attacks of an alien species. Andrew "Ender" Wiggin is a small six year old with a mind leagues beyond other children his age. Constantly being tortured by his older brother, Peter, he welcomes the orbiting Battle School as a relief. His training at Battle School takes the form of war games, and he is soon made into a "commander" of his own little "army." But time is slowly running out for Earth, and Ender's teachers push him harder and faster towards their goal of the ultimate military commander. But will they drive their amazing prodigy to insanity instead? Not only is this a good action story, it goes even deeper into the emotions and feelings of the characters. You truly feel for Ender. You see him dealing with so many devistating factors, such as the memories of his overly violent brother, his love for his ! sister, and his exhaustion from the teachers' games. However, I think this book is more suited for 8th graders and above. One reason is that younger children just might not get the deeper aspects of the book. It also deals with subjects that may be a bit too scary for younger children to handle. Other than that, it is an EXTREMELY GOOD BOOK! |

My all time favorite! Pam Munoz Ryan brings a vivid picture of the Labour Camp in your head so you feel like you were there. It has lots of descriptions that are so strange but yet so similar. No wonder it was chosen for a Texas Bluebonnet!! The story is about a very rich girl whose father dies and so she has to move to a labour camp in California in the early 1800's. She has to cope with moving from a mansion to a 2 room house shared with her mother, former servant, his wife, and his son. |

Hi, Jimmy. Thanks for writing in about one of my favorite books! That Byron sure is an interesting character. I like the scenes that you describe. I also like that although Byron is a troublemaker, he's also sort of likable and you kind of feel bad for the guy every now and then. That's one of the things that's great about Christopher Paul Curtis's writing--his characters. They are interesting people with many different sides. There's never a dull moment with the Watson family. Keep reading books and writing those book reviews, everyone! |

| Book: | A Swiftly Tilting Planet |
|
I think A Swiftly Tilting Planet is a great and interesting book because it's written by my favorite author Madeleine L'Engle and even though it has the same characters the person who actually is important is Mrs.O'Keefe. For those of you who think Mrs.O'Keefe who would think she is important to the book, well she is. The book is about when on Thanksgiving Mr.Murry gets a phone call from the President saying that a South American madman has declared nuclear war. Only an old Irish rune seems to have a clue to avert disaster. Charles Wallace, fifteen, gets the rune from Mrs.O'Keefe. When he says the rune for help, a unicorn audior comes to join him on the quest. Meg also helps him but I have to tell you this. She dosen't go or help in the way you think she would. I myself highly recommend the book. It has to do with a battle, good and evil, love and hate, which I think is especially important during this time of war. |

Ok, first of all I'd like to say that I'm sorry if this review offends anyone, but this is my opinion. I know everyone said how great it was, and I belive that there are othere are points of veiws about this book that aren't positive. I think walk two moons was a really, really bad book. It was about some excuse me, dumb kid that believes everything anyone says to her, is very judgemental, never sticks up for herself. One of the things that make a good book are likeable charecters, which was not the case. And what was up with the part where that guy sucked on the old lady's blood. Completly disqusting. I twas long and plotless and boring. It wasen't entertaining at all, it diden't teach me anything, and the more pages I read, the more I hated it. It makes me cringe to think that a book like that won an award, when there are so many great books out there that diden't win didly. I don't know how it even got published! |
