Welcome to Classroom Connection, where classrooms connect to discuss excellent books. In past years, students have used this web site to discuss novels such as The Watsons Go to Birmingham--1963, Hatchet, Maniac Magee, Walk Two Moons, Tuck Everlasting, Number the Stars, and The View from Saturday. To find out which books we'll be discussing this year, see our Schedule of Upcoming Discussions.

How does Classroom Connection work? First you need to download the Book Club novel guide that corresponds to the book your students will be reading and discussing. Use the link for the Book Club Store at the top of this page to learn more about downloading novel guides. Then you need to register for the discussion, using the Register button at left. Once you've registered, you'll receive information about the password that allows your students to submit comments to the discussion. When the discussion begins, your students use an online form to submit their comments, which are automatically posted on daily Readers' Comments pages. Students can then read and respond to each other's comments as they continue reading the book.

The Registration form allows you to sign up for Classroom Connection activities and puts you on our electronic mailing list to receive updates about Planet Book Club and Classroom Connection. If you'd like to view archived discussions, please visit our Past Discussions area.

Additional Online Resources
To support our novel guides and online discussions, we've assembled a list of Internet resources to help you teach the units. Resources include web sites dealing with relevant topics as well as sites that publish theme-related literature (e.g., short stories and poems).
